I love the opening piano chords, as it provides a sense of doom and imminent disaster to the song, the chord deep and ominous. Yet another introduction by a film trailer ( 30 Days of Night), this is another song that has stuck with me since. It’s quiet, it’s loud, it’s screechy, and it’s great. Yet another haunting (I use that to describe a lot of these! Maybe I love the haunting sound) song by Muse, this one includes a continuous falsetto throughout, and a killer chorus that is yelled by Matt. It’s an eerie, haunting song about the end of the world, and it’s final falsetto scream by Bellamy remains as haunting and desperate since I first heard it.Ħ. I was introduced to it in the 28 Weeks Later trailer, and I’ve been in love with it ever since. This may seem like a bit of a stretch, as it is a B-side and not well known at all, but I personally think that they should have included this on a “real” album. Shrinking Universe ( Hullabaloo Soundtrack, 2001) It’s a great and epic first effort, and I can’t wait to see if Muse continues this trend in the future.ħ.

The song is haunting, and Part 3 is beautiful, with its building piano, and its crescendo, paired with Matt’s quiet vocals of urging us to start over. They created a solid 10 minute or so symphony, and while it’s not perfect, it’s certainly a great first effort by composer Matt Bellamy. The song kills live.Įxogenesis was a bold step for Muse, but it payed off. The harmonizing at the end of the song (You must pay for your crimes against the earth, etc.) make the song sound bold and confident. I love how the song builds in intensity, and I love the continuous techno-sounding loop throughout.

To be honest, I didn’t initially enjoy this song, but the performance of it on the HAARP DVD sealed the deal for me. Take a Bow ( Black Holes and Revelations, 2006) Many people consider some of their other songs the most beautiful, such as Starlight or Neutron Star Collision, but in my mind, SFA takes the cake as the most beautiful, emotional, and even haunting of Muse songs.ĩ.

The lyrics are beautiful, the chorus is haunting yet comforting, and the continuous piano melody throughout starts the song off wonderfully. This is arguably one of the most beautiful Muse songs. *Please note that I have no knowledge or background in musical composition, so my explanations of why these are my favourite will be purely emotional rather than musically based.ġ0. So, without further ado, here is my personal Top 10 Muse Songs. I’ve been listening to Muse for around six years now (Black Holes was my first album), and even though I haven’t been with them since the beginning, I feel like I still love them enough to give a true fan’s list of their best songs. I thought, as a response, that I would make my own list a true fan’s list. They included all the commercially successful songs, like Plug in Baby, Starlight, Black Holes, TIRO, etc. Today, they had a video titled “Top 10 Muse Songs,” and to be honest, I thought it was terrible. There’s a channel on YouTube titled “Watch Mojo,” which I frequently watch and subscribe to.
